Deborah Renaud-McDermott and her daughter Amina from the RC of Sarnia told the story of their visit to San Carlos, Mexico to distribute reused pairs of eye glasses.    Teams have been going for 18 years as part of this District 6330 project led by Dr. Brad.  Volunteers, some of whom are Rotarians, offer basic eye testing and select appropriate lenses and frames that have been donated by the public and then sorted by ophthalmic students and purchased by the project.  Recipients are also given sun glasses.  Clinics are offered in different places over 4-days and have served as many as 500 people a day.  As a club, we have donated towards the cost of purchasing reused glasses.
Happy Fins: Donations of $5 to The Rotary Foundation – Annuals Programs Fund- credited to the donor in celebration of something good in our lives. This practice was started in the club in 1985 to raise funds for polio eradication at the suggestion of Darwen Lowe, a member of the club.
