Rotaserver 8Dec 21 Social and Club Assembly

President Barbara opened the meeting with the gong.  9 members present sang O Canada, toasted the Queen and Country and Rotary International, and recited the 4-way test led by Bill Horn.

Our scheduled speaker was unavailable due to work and is re-scheduled for the New Year.  A TED talk video was unable to be viewed but Barbara will send out the link in an email.

A Club Assembly ensued and notes will be emailed to members.

Happy Finns
Mark – grateful that Catharine encouraged him to reach out to Doug Tarry Ltd. for next year’s sponsorship.  He has an interview date. Also, happy for the Rotary International Foundation.
Bill – toured us through the many highlights of the recent US trip with Maggie:  Noah’s Ark exhibit in Kentucky, celebration of US Thanksgiving with his son, saw “Rock City” Christmas décor with granddaughter and her Mom, took a walking tour of caverns, looked through 2 museums and the Bloomington, Illinois e-car plant which is 3 million sq. ft. and employs 4000 people.  The whole trip was topped off with a visit to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville for a concert and Opryland.
Stew – optimistic for future media, bought a sailboat on the weekend
Trudy – Nic’s birthday and Girls’ weekend in Toronto complete with a ride up the CN Tower
Malcolm – Grandchildren paid weekend visit, President Barbara capably presiding over our deliberations
Gerry – unravelling the meaning of “5 for 5:30” time for our events, a new hat, Area Zoom meeting successful, got flu shot yesterday
Barbara – Daughter Ashley was chosen as the chief resident for Canadian Association for Mental Health – Congratulations Ashley!

This from Sam Murray as a follow up of the  Water First Webinar:
I am not sure if Atshpi is a water technician - his formal job is the Indigenous Skills & Employment Training Programs Manager with Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation. Do you mind changing that, if it hasn't already been sent out?

Thank you again! I am so glad your club was able to make it and enjoyed the event! We hope to have many more in the future.

Thanks,
Sam
