CASO Volunteer Recognition Party
Members of the Rotary Club of St. Thomas gave a warm reception on a warm evening to 70 volunteers who attended the Recognition Evening at the CASO station on May 30, 2018. Greeted by the smiles of Ron Somerville and Ed Willson at the reception desk, our Rotary friends were given a 100 mL bottle of maple syrup as a gift. Yellow Gerbera daisies and boxes
of Hershey kisses adorned the tables along with a Rotary placemat.
Nancy Lovelock orchestrated the evening complete with cookies, lemonade, coffee and cake. She also engaged a wonderful vocal performer, Randy Grey. Randy stopped his full-time job at age 60 to persue his passion of providing music to varied audiences. Randy’s lovely voice was very much appreciated by all. He has a repertoire of 600 melodies, about 30 of which we enjoyed. Randy provides background music for guests to continue to talk and this is the fun of an appreciation event – the networking with other people. The table daisies were sent home with the guest having the greatest number of years of Rotary volunteering.
President Trish welcomed and thanked our Rotary allies and noted that “the volunteers and supporters of Rotary exemplify Rotary’s “Service Above Self” motto.” A running slide show continued throughout the evening, compiled by Stew Shouldice from photos taken during the year, with captions added.
There were many compliments given to Rotarians about the evening. Also in attendance were Adriana Balderas, Trudy Kanellis, Suzanne Ferguson, Pat Martyn, Malcolm and Donna Rust, Bill and Maggie Horn and Faye Ferguson. Good job Nancy and club!
